Which application are you buying for?
For a central compressed-air station, define the pressure needed after treatment and distribution losses, together with normal, minimum and peak air demand. A centrifugal selection must be checked against that demand pattern and the site's inlet and cooling conditions. Ask for the proposed machine's operating map and control sequence, including its minimum stable delivery and blow-off behaviour.
For a process-gas project, identify gas composition, suction pressure and temperature, discharge pressure and the flow reference. Air-compressor capacity is not a substitute for a gas-specific performance selection. Refrigerant compression belongs to a separate refrigeration duty, with a named refrigerant and operating temperatures.

These ranges describe different configurations. They do not mean that the highest flow, highest pressure and lowest motor rating occur together. Keep gauge and absolute pressures distinct, and compare flow only after agreeing its reference conditions. Ask for absorbed package input as well as the installed motor rating.

Oil-free compression and delivered air quality
An oil-free compression claim does not specify the complete air-treatment duty. Ask for the exact model and configuration covered by an oil-quality certificate or report. Set particle, water and oil limits separately, with a sampling point and acceptance method. Dryers, filters, drainage and the downstream pipework remain part of the installation review.
What to put on the purchasing enquiry
Provide the gas or air duty, normal/minimum/maximum demand, suction conditions and required delivery pressure. Add electrical supply, cooling-water conditions, operating hours and the existing compressor-control arrangement. Request the selected performance map, package-input data, included equipment list, drawings, maintenance access and agreed tests. Confirm commissioning, spare-parts support and destination responsibilities in the technical offer.
